    Around 170 employees are in danger of losing their jobs after a paper mill in Watchet, West Somerset, is set to close, a news source has revealed.

    The 250-year old Wansbrough paper mill is owned by packaging company DS Smith and is the main employer in the town. The company has entered into a consultation with employs ahead of the proposed closure in December 2015.

    West Somerset Council has said it was working with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and doing "all in its power to help employees".

    A statement from DS Smith said: "This announcement in no way reflects the commitment and efforts of our employees who continue to support our business.

    "We will work closely with union and employee representatives throughout the consultation process to ensure the best possible outcome for all parties."

  10. Hundreds of jobs at risk as insurance company reveals restructuring plans

    Hundreds of employees could be made redundant as one of the UK’s largest insurance companies revealed plans to close one of its sites and downsize another, a recent news report in the local media has been able to find.
