2. Construction work starts on multimillion-pound student accommodation

3. Jobs lost as Yeovil-based building contractors go into administration

   Multiple jobs at two Yeovil-based building contractors could be lost as the companies went into administration due to cashflow difficulties, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.

    

   Together, Brookvale Homes (SW) Ltd and Avalon Estates Ltd employ about 51 staff and have contracts with several local housing associations.

    

   Gilbert Lemon and Paul Wood, from accountancy and investment management group Smith & Williamson, have been appointed as joint administrators of the companies, with effect from 8 May.

    

   The administrators said: "Brookvale Homes (SW) Ltd and Avalon Estates Ltd, a linked business, ran into cashflow difficulties and we were called in by the directors once it became clear that the trading situation was unviable.

    

   "We are working on a rescue package for the businesses and are doing our very best to resolve matters for the benefit of all concerned. However, the businesses have suffered financial and cash flow set-backs creating the current problems."

6. Subsea technology firm to expand workforce following cash injection

7. Millbay quarter redevelopment plan receives planning permission

   Plans to redevelop and regenerate Plymouth’s historic Millbay coastal quarter have been approved and are set to go forward, a news source can reveal.

   Millbay’s lead developer English Cities Fund (ECF) submitted the outline planning application for the regeneration area to update and replace the current masterplan which was granted outline planning permission by Plymouth City Council in 2008.

8. Plasterboard manufacturer to hire more staff after securing new business contracts

9. Over 1,000 jobs salvaged at Somerset helicopter manufacturer via MOD contract

10. Student property developer secures planning permission for Coventry project

    A Bristol-based student property developer has managed to secure the required planning consent for a new 2.1 site in central Coventry, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.

    The £17m development, acquired in January 2015, will provide accommodation for 286 students and is scheduled to open for the 2016/17 academic year.
