  6. Car dealership creates 30 new jobs in Poole

    A car dealer has managed to create 30 new jobs in in Poole after opening a new Citroen dealership, a recent news report in the local business media has been able to reveal.

  7. Over 50 percent of companies in the South West plan to take on more staff in 2015

    Around half of companies in the South West of England plan to take on more staff members in 2015, a recent survey from CBI and Accenture of 101 local businesses has been able to find.

    The survey found that a higher proportion of permanent than temporary jobs will be created, with 40 per cent of respondents saying they were planning to take on permanent staff and 32 per cent temporary.

    Moreover, job prospects for young people have also improved, with many of these firms planning to recruit graduates and apprentices and 86 per cent saying they expected to have suitable roles for 18-24 year-olds.

  8. South West construction sector could see up to 6,000 new jobs created each year

    Up to 6,000 new jobs could be created in the South West construction sector each year until 2019, the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has recently forecast.

    The annual Construction Skills Network report said with growth expected to be 3.6 per cent from 2014 to 2019, a total of 6,320 new jobs each year could be generated.

    Roger Stone, CITB sector strategy manager for the South West, said: "This report is terrific news for the region and shows the construction industry is making a strong comeback."

  9. Bournemouth records fifth highest growth in new jobs in the country

    The city of Bournemouth has recorded the fifth highest level of growth in the country in terms of the number of new jobs being created, a new report from the Centre for Cities has revealed.

    The research paper, entitled ‘Outlook 2015’, claims that Bournemouth is the only town in the South West where jobs have not fallen behind the UK average between 2004 and 2013. In fact, the town has recorded a 10 per cent increase, with 15,500 jobs created.

    Bournemouth also achieved a top ten ranking for the highest number of businesses per 10,000 people in 2013 and ranked fifth for digital connections thanks to its high speed broadband availability.

    The leader of Bournemouth Council, Councillor John Beesley, said: "Despite the considerable challenges of the recession we have been strategically investing in regeneration projects to attract inward investment, improving our transport network, supporting business start-ups and striving to retain graduate talent in the town to increase our skills base."

  10. Retailer to create 80 new jobs at St Austell store

    A retailer has revealed plans to create 80 jobs with the launch of a new store at Stadium Retail Park in St Austell, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.

    Homewares specialist The Range will open the new retail outlet on a site currently occupied by Buyology. The site will be refurbished prior to opening with plans including 16 departments, garden centre and café.

    The jobs will cover a range of positions including sales assistants, warehouse staff and managers.

    Owner Chris Dawson said: "We are very pleased to confirm our plans for the St Austell store, which will be our second branch in Cornwall. The staff we employ at The Range are key to our success and we look forward to inviting potential employees to join the team."
