  1. Wadebridge care village in north Cornwall gets the green light

    Local authorities have granted planning permission for the development of a new a £15m ‘care village’ in Wadebridge, north Cornwall, that will feature 75 cottages and a 72-bedroom nursing home, a local news report was able to reveal.

  2. Confectionery company to build new £500,000 factory in Cornwall

    A confectionery company specializing in fudge making has revealed plans to build a new factory worth an estimated half a million pounds at a site in Cornwall after securing the required funding from NatWest.

    The Buttermilk Confectionary Co is currently based in Wadebridge but plans to move its manufacturing facilities to new premises in Bodmin by January 2015 and expects output to increase by 50 per cent.

    David Goad, owner, commented on the announcement: "We’re producing six and a half tonnes of fudge every week in our current factory but, with space for extra machinery, the move to Bodmin means we can increase this to ten tonnes.

    "We’re passionate about what we do and it’s important for us to grow whilst maintaining our heritage and our connection to local suppliers. Our new premises are just eight miles from where we are now so it means we can continue to do this."

  3. Outsourcing company bags £33m NHS facilities management contract

    A hospital trust in Surrey has awarded outsourcing company Mitie a £33m facilities management contract for an initial five years, with the possibility of a further 2-year extension, a news report in the local business media could recently reveal.

  4. Major new tourism destination planned for Cornish town

    Preliminary pans to create a major new tourism destination in the Cornish town of Falmouth have been submitted to Cornwall Council, with a full planning application set to follow later in June 2014.

    The proposed St Michaels Spa & Wellness Resort would feature a spa, a health club, improved conference and wedding options, restaurant facilities and shops, as well as new and upgraded accommodation, a news report in the local media could reveal.

  5. South West manufacturing sector records significant growth

  6. New housing development planned for Bournemouth car park

    The Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking South West Business Activity Index revealed that the private sector across the South West continued to expand in April, despite the rate of growth slowing down to a 10-month low.

    A total of 50 jobs were saved as a Salisbury supplier of home care nursing staff was bought out of administration by a company sharing the same directors, a news report in the local business media has revealed.
