  1. Plans put forward for extensive redevelopment in Bournemouth

Residential property developer Taylor Wimpey has submitted plans to Bournemouth Borough Council to create a restaurant, 78 apartments, nine holiday-letting apartments, 90 basement parking spaces and associated cycle storage as part of the Bournemouth International Hotel and Ocean Palace redevelopment, a news report in the local media has revealed.

The planning application said: "The site at 6-10 Priory Road represents a unique opportunity to revitalise a key site close to Bournemouth town centre. With superb sea views, good local connections and a desirable location, we have endeavoured to produce a design that ultimately becomes a great place to live, engages with the surroundings whilst also responding to the local context.

"Balancing the requirements of stakeholders, the result is a simple, crisp and clean proposal that blends architecture, landscape and urban design together. It meets with the objective of optimum efficiency and viability of the site which is currently out of use and is an opportunity to breathe life back into the site.

"The development also brings wider benefits for the local area. The provision of new homes, Section 106 contributions to local facilities and infrastructure are all important in addition to increased revenue from council tax and a financial bonus to the local economy for the new residents."

Naturally, given the huge size of this undertaking, it will certainly involve a fairly large number of contractors, and this is the reason why any developer embarking on such a task should also implement a very solid and reliable time and attendance system, and Time & Attendance South West offers the necessary expertise to provide customers with a complete and comprehensive bespoke solution, that will perfectly fit their requirements.

Bristol City Council has filed a Section 188 Notice with trade unions over its proposal to lose up to 800 full-time posts, affecting up to 1,000 individuals, as part of the council’s efforts to resolve a £90m funding gap over the next three years, a news report in the local media has revealed.

Bristol City Council blamed this decision on the shortfall on anticipated real-term government funding cuts of approximately 25 per cent. Furthermore, it revealed it intends to offer staff voluntary severance and an optional reduction in hours where possible but added ‘it is still likely that some compulsory redundancies will have to be made’.

Additionally, the Council’s representatives also said that it had saved £300,000 by restructuring the top two tiers of management, and would now focus on rationalising the third tier.
